Introducing Socrates - Head of School
August 2020
Greetings!
Welcome to Socrates - Head of School!
It is with great enthusiasm that we roll out free and perpetual professional development for you and your school to improve leading and learning.
We use the Socratic method of questioning to bridge the gap between research and thought leaders to improve the student learning experience in schools. In other words, if Socrates were running a school today, what are the questions he would ask to move his school forward? In honor of that inspiration, we titled ourselves Socrates- Head of School.
This idea was born out of a disappointing professional development experience, my efforts to use books/thought leaders to push education, and a timely crash course in Philosophy. In a nutshell, I began to wonder if analyzing the work of thought leaders through the lens of questioning would lead to better professional development. When I began asking colleagues around the world if they thought it would help schools, the resounding answer was “YES”! Thus, I began to recruit people who I thought would be a great fit for Socrates - Head of School. Those people and our work to improve schools thus far is evident by the books in our for all schools to use as it helps them improve.
Please feel free to poke around our Open Educational Resource to see how these books may help improve leading and learning at your school.
Yours in pursuit of answers,
