Ramona Trevino - Educational Consultant
Dr. Ramona S. Trevino developed Estrella Life Designs to continue her work as an education consultant, leadership coach, and certified life coach. Prior to relocating back to Austin, TX she served as the Senior Director for District and School Design at the Center for Collaborative Education in Boston, MA where she supported a number of educator networks such as the MA Personalized Learning Network, Essex County Learning Community, and Boston Autonomous Schools Network. She has successfully served as both an executive leader and campus principal in a variety of settings with diverse populations. She led the Lower School at the Graded American School in Sao Paulo, Brazil, served as Chief Academic Officer for the Austin Independent School District where she supervised all academic departments, created the first Department of Social & Emotional Learning, introduced blended learning, and facilitated the District Charter Collaborative and the first in-district charter school. She was the Founding Principal and the CEO of the University of Texas Elementary School. As the first university charter school in Texas she led the design of a demonstration program that resulted in an Exemplary rating by the Texas Education Agency. She also served as principal of Zilker Elementary School in the Austin School District. Under her leadership, Zilker progressed in the Texas school rating system from Acceptable to Exemplary and was designated as a Texas and National Blue Ribbon School. Prior to her work as an administrator in Austin she worked as a special education teacher in the Klein (TX) School District, the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) in Germany and the Bureau of Indian Affairs in AZ. She completed her B.S. in special education at Wheelock College in Boston, and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the Educational Leadership Department at the University of Texas at Austin. She served the University’s College of Education as a clinical professor and was named a fellow in the U.T. Division of Diversity and Community Engagement; developing and coordinating the Urban Education Project with the College of Education. She also served on the Board of Directors for the TX Education Service Center for Region 13. Ramona is married to James R. McClure and a proud mother of Robby and Paul Trevino.
